Speaking Truth Everyday

By Talks

       June 25

June 21 was National Indigenous Peoples Day. Canadian Vineyard churches were challenged to focus on this by having “A Sunday for Speaking Truth.” Our whole service was dedicated to Indigenous concerns and issues and the teaching was given by Kanatiio, Negotiations Coordinator with the Peskotomuhkati Skutik. Chief Hugh Akagi also shared some thoughts and he noted that the problem with having a day set aside for speaking the truth is the fact that there are 364 other days in the year. We recorded this entire service, including the music and prayers. You can listen to the first part of the service

      here
. The powerpoint for today includes the songs and liturgy. Many people felt that this was a “beyond special” time.

Touching Down

By Talks

       June 11

For the last two weeks, Peter Fitch has been speaking about the beginning of the first chapter of John’s Gospel. Since last week’s message didn’t record properly, he began this one with a short recap of what he said last week. Then he takes it further by discussing ideas about the phrase: “the Word became flesh.” He thinks of Word and Flesh together as an unlikely but necessary meeting place. He illustrates some of what he is talking about by making reference to Mr. Rogers, the popular icon of children’s television. Here is a link to the Intro and Outro music from his show.
