Charlotte County Time Bank
Who We Are
Charlotte County Time Bank began in April 2024 as a small group of neighbours who believed our communities deserve more ways for people to connect, to help one another, and to access support without financial barriers. Since then, that idea has grown into a network of people sharing time, skills, and kindness.
In May 2025, the Time Bank was officially launched. Today, we have around 80 members, and together they’ve exchanged about 160 hours of support—from gardening, cooking, and driving to tutoring, crafting, home organizing, tech help, companionship, among others.

How a Time Bank Works
Timebanking is beautifully simple:
When you help someone for one hour—say, by baking bread, weeding their garden, repairing a chair, walking their dog, or showing them how to use their phone—you earn one time credit.
Then you can use that credit to receive an hour of someone else’s help.
Everyone’s time is valued equally, and everyone has something to give.
This kind of system is especially helpful for people who might otherwise slip through the cracks—newcomers who don’t yet know many people, seniors who need help with small tasks, people with disabilities, families on a tight budget, or anyone wanting more human connection.
How We Support Our Members
We use a system provided by Timebanking UK to track exchanges. It’s simple, but we know not everyone is comfortable with online tools—that’s where our coordinator comes in.
Our coordinator helps members set up their profiles, match with people who need help, find ways to offer their skills, and feel confident using the system.Â
We also host gatherings, workshops, and events that make it easier for people to meet each other and start making exchanges.
