Today is Ash Wednesday – the beginning of the season of Lent on the church calendar. It’s a time of remembering the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness, recalling that we follow one who resisted popularity, power and the immediate satisfaction of our desires in order to focus on what would truly bring life.
