Peter Fitch hits the second last word in the spiritual formation list in 2 Peter 1. Studying this term led him to talk about the famous interaction between Jesus and Peter at the end of John’s Gospel. It also led to a discussion of the founding of Philadelphia by William Penn in the 17th century and the founding of Pennfield, New Brunswick, in the 18th century. For a period of time this was the most just community in North America because the founding members absolutely refused to allow slavery in any form. Peter ties in Jackie Robinson in a personal story that led him to teach about inclusion in churches for people of different sexualities. Then he adds insight from the Talmud and from Kahlil Gibran.
