Celebrating 33

On our 33rd anniversary, several of us (including guest, Bradley Jersak) shared thoughts on what they’ve appreciated about being a part of SCC. We closed with Ray’s singing of “Kingfishers” (aka “Icarus” or “The Hot Song”). Much love and gratitude was present.

A Tale of Two Cities

On this Pentecost Sunday, good friend and frequent guest at SCC, Bradley Jersak, gave some background on the Holy Spirit and then shared how the outpouring of the Holy Spirit recorded in Acts 2 created a unity based on respectful listening and speaking that preserves diversity as opposed to the monolithic and proud empire of Babel. One Day

Bradley Jersak spoke today on “reading from the end.” He led us through some of the Book of Revelation as a way to orient our understanding toward “God’s intended result” (something that David Moore spoke about last week). Along the way, Brad included many ideas, all leading toward an understanding that Jesus is gradually causing all things to come together in a way that will bring about the healing of the world and the people in it.

Coming Home

Today Brad Jersak spoke about the conversions that we experience when we turn from illusions of shame and addiction and self-absorption toward the Light of God’s Presence. Drawing from ideas related to Plato’s cave as well as several New Testament passages (John 1, 2 Corinthians 3 and 4), he inspired people to turn towards greater clarity and freedom. Music was by Peter and Zoe Fitch and each song had something to do with the theme of “home” or “homecoming.”
